Can You Register Online For The Electoral Roll?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

The way you register to vote can depend on who you are, where you are from and where you live. Normally you can not register completely on-line. You can print out the registration from the electoral commission web page, fill it in, sign it personally and then post it to your local Electoral Registration Office. British and European Union citizens living in UK and British citizens can register to vote this way. You must return the amended form the normal way if there are any changes to your details. If all your details are correct on your annual registration from, i.e. no changes need to be made other than if you wish to change your 'opt out status you can do the registration to vote, on-line. Usually the information the Electoral Registration Office holds, is a year old and they do not have information if your situation has changed, therefore it is advisable to use the normal way of printing and sending the details to the local branch. Alternative to registering on-line is to use telephone. On-line or telephone registrations can only be used when there are no changes to your details from the previous year.
