What Famous People Live In Kendal?

There are several famous people who come from the Cumbrian town of Kendal.

One of the Uk's best know historians David Starkey comes from Kendal.  He later went on to teach history at the London School of Economics from where he started a career in broadcasting.

The creator of much loved characters Rosie and Jim and Postman Pat, John Cunliffe, lived in Kendal for 6 years.  It was this area of the country that provided the inspiration for the setting for the Postman Pat stories and Greendale, where Pat lives, is based on Longsleddale which is near Kendal.  

English portrait painter George Romney was born in Dalton-in-Furness but learnt his painting skills from artist Christopher Steele who did come from Kendal.
