What Is The Full Name Of AFC Bournemouth?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

The full name of AFC Bournemouth is Bournemouth and Boscombe Athletic Community Football Club Limited.
They were formed in 1899 and should not be confused with the older Bournemouth FC who play in the Wessex League.

Whilst the club has not been particularly successful in terms of collecting trophies, it is proud to hold the record for the fastest league hat-trick in English football history. The player to achieve this was James Hayter and it occurred during the 2002/03 season when he came on as a substitute. Hayter scored three goals within 2 minutes and 20 seconds.

The team also beat Manchester United once in the FA cup under the reign of manager Harry Redknapp in 1984. Manchester United were the current holders of the FA cup at the time of Bournemouth's triumph.

AFC Bournemouth have the nickname of 'the Cherries'. They play at the Fitness First Stadium which has a capacity for approximately 10,700 people.

They currently reside in the League One division and finished in 17th place during the 2005/06 season.
