    Internet is a product by Microsoft. It is part of the operating system called Windows. Basically Internet Explorer is a web browser that is used for browsing the world wide web.


    This web browser was developed by Thomas Reardon in the year 1994. It was sourced from the earliest web browser by Spyglass, Inc. It was added to Microsoft windows in the year 1995. Initially it was part of the Plus! For windows add on package. Later on, it was available for free. Internet Explorer is one of the most widely used web browser of the world. Its users surpass the number of users of every other web browser of the world. 


    Uptil now, 8 versions of this product have been released since 1995. The latest one being released on March 19, 2009. The biggest threat to Internet Explorer these days is development of other web browsers such as Mozilla Firefox.
