This question is easy enough, but has no easy answers. Numerous studies have been undertaken with the sole aim of answering this question, but it couldn't be answered without conflicting results. Most studies, however, show that we are not drinking enough water. The British Dietetic Association says that as a guideline an average adult requires about 2.5 litres of water daily. One needs to consume more water than this during times of hot weather as well as after periods of physical activity. The fact is that the amount of water required by a person will vary depending on weight and activity level. Another method used to determie how much water to drink per day is dividing your weight by two (that is, your weight in pounds). The resulting number is the amount of number of water (in ounces) that you should try and consume each day. It is not necessary to drink water only in its original form; you can fulfill your daily requirement from sources such as tea, fruit juices, carbonated drinks, and fruit and vegetables.
