My Employer Doesn't Pay Me On Time, What Can I Do?
I work for a transportation company in MS. We are suppose to get paid on fridays but every friday my co-workers and I have to wait to nine or ten o'clock at night or sometimes the next morning. Is there anything we can do?

I wouldn't complain too much, considering the economy. Times are tough, and at least you're being paid... Something not everybody can say lately. Even the company you work for.
Try writing a letter to management that documents your concern, and how it may affect the employees. Discuss the safety issues of people staying up late waiting for checks, when they should be home getting some rest.
Also suggest a direct deposit strategy. That may be the best way to get it to the bank quickly.

Despite the "times being tough", YOU DESERVE TO GET PAID ON TIME!!!!!!!!!! Contact the Dept of Labor and Industry and get your employer reported asap- in the meantime, tell your employer your plans to report- this may do the trick!

If you are a non union employee, the employer can do what he pleases. The law does however, indicates employers must pay all employees for all physical hours work within a timely manner, unless there is a set schedule of pay for example, pay is once a month or every 2 weeks or you are an exempt employee. Factory workers must be paid at a weekly basis. A rule of thumb is to be paid within 5 days after your completed work schedule or file a complaint with the Hours and Wages Division and they will investigate and assist collecting all wages owed. Remember under the FLSA they must keep time records of work and you should do the same.
