The American Civil war was fought during the years 1861and 1865. The war actually began on 12th April 1861 when the US Military installations were targeted by the Confederates in Fort Sumter. The battles started from there and were fought throughout the next four years. The last battle, called the battle of Palmito Ranch ended on
May 16, 1865 and put an end to the war.
