The Faraday Cage is an enclosed space surrounded by conducting material usually in the form of a mesh of wires connected to a common conductor. The apparatus blocks external electric fields and provides electrostatic shielding.

The working principle of Faraday's Cage as demonstrated by the physicist Michael Faraday is based on his observations that electrical charges in such an enclosure would always reside on the exterior on account of repulsion and any external electric field that would come in contact with the charges would result in their rearrangement that would cancel the effect of the field in the interior of the enclosure.

A Faraday Cage depending on the conductor's thickness also is able to effectively block electromagnetic radiation. The principle of Faraday's cage is seen in several cases like an airplane flying in the sky is essentially a Faraday's cage protecting the passengers in case of a lightning strike; another example is the cooking chamber of a microwave oven.
