Oakley is the name of a place in Contra Costa County of California in United States. It is a town and was founded in the mid 19th century. It was a flourishing agricultural centre during the initial days. Thus agriculture is the main occupation in Oakley. Various crops like almonds, grapes, walnuts and pecans are grown in Oakley. It witnessed a very destructive fire in the late nineteenth century which led to the loss of the most of the downtown area in this place which was rebuilt later on.

The earlier residents of Oakley had to go to school at the edge of the town near the Antioch border. This school was a white wooded building which was later converted into a church. Today there are several schools in Oakley. Oakley was incorporated as a city on July 1, 1999 and is hence the newest city in California. It has a very rich and interesting history and is fast progressing towards development and opportunity.
