    In the 19th century, the game of baseball and photography were becoming increasingly popular in the United States of America. So to promote this game companies started to take pictures of the renowned players and displayed them on cards for the purpose of advertisement. The cards were printed with pictures of famous sportsmen from the world of baseball giving them lots of exposure.

    Baseball became the national game and the production of the baseball cards started to increase. Then later many sports companies started to produce baseball cards in association with all of the teams. Youngsters began to collect cards of players from their favorite teams.
