Bodrum is a former fishing village, turned tourist holiday destination, at the city port of Bodrum, where the waters of the Aegean and the Mediterranean meet. It is served by Bodrum airport which is thirty minutes away. It has two small beaches, a small sandy beach and a small pebble beach, which is also used by restaurant owners as additional seating areas for their establishments. The area is known as the St Tropez of Turkey.

At Bodrum there is a beautiful ancient castle of Peter which houses a museum and was home to some Christian crusaders amongst many others.
