The job of signal maintainer though sounds very simple it has many complexities to handle. The responsibilities include installation, maintenance, inspection, construction, repair and testing of the signal system. He also does the above mentioned jobs for the devices and appliances that are being used in the signal system.
The devices that are being used in the system include automatic block signal system, train stop, cab signal system, traffic control system, , interlocking system, automatic classification yards, broken flange detectors, rail-highway grade crossing protection.
