Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

The word celebration is defined as a joyful occasion or a day on which special festivities are organised. The purpose of a celebration is to mark a happy event. It is also defined as a joyous diversion from the mundane lifestyle of a group of person, who gather to share the happy occasion.

Some occasions to celebrate are birthdays, engagements, weddings, anniversaries, success in an examination, victory in sport, success in business (this could be in the form of a new job, a promotion, etc.), the acquisition of a new home or a better home, getting a new job or car, getting a driver's licence, graduation from high school or university, getting released from prison, getting discharged from hospital, getting released from a kidnapping, etc.

In the Christian faith, the word celebration is used to define the consecration and administration of the Holy Communion. It is also the third month of the lunisolar calendar followed by the members of the Jewish community.
