This happens often - in fact it happens in most interviews - so your interviewer(s) won't be at all surprised if there are a few questions you can't answer. They may even ask one or two qustions that they don't expect you to know, just to see how you react.

So it is very important not to lie. Of course, if you know a LITTLE about the subject, then make the most of it - you don't need to show false modesty - but if you really have no idea, then you must be honest. The best thing is probably to say, in a polite and calm way, "I'm afraid I don't know (the answer to that.") If you know something about a related subject, perhaps you mention that if it is relevant. And you may well be able to ask an intelligent question about the topic, which would certainly help.

Of course, if you end up saying "I don't know" a lot, it won't look good; but to be honest, if there is such a lot about the job that you don't know, you probably wouldn't have got it anyway.
