What Is Phase Modulation?
Phase modulation of information signal in data transmission?
1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating
Phase Modulation is basically a form of Modulation. It represents the information as variations of the instantaneous phase of the carrier wave. It is not very commonly used, despite the fact that its counterpart is frequency modulation which is very popular.
Phase Modulation required more complex hardware for receiving and there are numerous ambiguity problems involved in the process. PM is often considered as a special form of FM whereby the carrier frequency modulation is represented by the time derivative of the phase modulation.
Signals of small amplitude have PM that is same as amplitude Modulation and for a large signal, PM is same as FM.
