Who Was Myrtle Corbin?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Myrtle Corbin was born on May 6, 1868 in Tennessee in the United States. She is best known as the woman with four legs.

Myrtle Corbin was born as a dipygus. This means that she had two separate pelvises that were positioned side by side. She had two extra legs that were supposed to have been part of a twin that never separated correctly while in the womb. So, she ended up with four legs that were all very healthy and very functional.

She worked for many years as a freak in a freak show. Freaks were considered to be people who had some oddity that was beyond the norm. She was happily married and had a total of five children. Three of the five children were her own children and the other two children were from her twin's pelvis. Therefore, it can be safe to say that her twin would have been a sister.
