Hydrocodone is generic for Vicodin and Lortab, both narcotics, just different manufacturer, available with 5mg, 7.5 mg or 10 mg of narcotic mixed with anywhere from 325 to 750 mg of acetamenaphine. Not sure, but think it has morphine base, 5 mg is very mild for narcotics, much stronger and more dangerous stuff avilable if not used acccording to directions.

It doesn't have either in it. In your system codeine is broken down into morphine, the same as heroine, and will typically show up as morphine on a drug test. However, hydrocodone has a very different chemical make-up, and in the body it breaks down into "hydromorphone," which does show up differently than codeine on a test. Both are very easily habit-forming. Codeine has a "peak" to where beyond 350mg will not give you any more pain relief, or euphoric feeling, but hydrocodone does not have a "peak" or "platform" and tends to be the "prescription drug of choice" for doctors who's patients aren't relieved by codeine, and opiate abusers. Both forms of medication are typically mixed with tylenol, or acetamenophen, and this medication is very dangerously toxic and damaging to the liver in large doses, and is easily overdosed on, so your best bet would be to look for other avenues of pain relief before taking one of these very powerful medications, and then following the dosing directions exactly to reduce the risk of becoming dependant or overdosing.
