    Why Can't You Drink Milk After General Anesthesia?

    We were instructed no milk or milk products for 1st 24 hours after general anesthesia - why?

    Milk and dairy products produce mucus, and they want you to keep your lungs clear and cough as much as possible so you don't get a blood clot in your lungs, or pulmonary edema.  Hope this helps. Good-Luck.
