Problems With Group Policy Management Console?

I have a Windows Vista Home Premium computer that DID have group policy editor/management console on it. I adjusted settings like disable access to Windows Update etc. Now I want to re-enable Windows Update and Group Policy is missing! There is no gpedit.msc file I've tried registering gpedit.dll but all I get is an error message. What can I do?

Sounds like your system had a hicchup. Home versions don't have gpedit.msc (as you noted). This is also true in Windows XP and Will ocntinue to be true in Windows 7.

When you do things to local policy, they just change local registry settings. You should be able to re-enable your automatic settings by opening Windows update from control, selecting change settings, and turning the setting back on.

If you can't do this, open regedit, navigate to "HKLMSoftwarePolicies" and delete keys under or the particular key under Policies. Rebooting will get the settings out of memory and properly reloaded.
