What Is The Genre Of Fantasy Fiction And The Sub-genre Of High Fantasy?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

The phrase fantasy fiction is used to define a genre of art in which magic and other supernatural forces are used extensively. In fact, magic is one of the key elements of the plot, the theme or the setting of a work of fantasy.

The fantasy genre is distinguished from the genres of science fiction and horror by the overall look, feel and theme of the works. However, there is a degree of overlap between the three genres.

On the other hand, the phrase high fantasy is used to refer to one of the oldest sub-genres of fantasy fiction. It is usually set in words that are invented by the author or parallel words. The authors who are considered to be the pioneers of the sub-genre of high fantasy are C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkein.
