Do You Have Any Safety Tips On Riding Pocket Bikes?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Pocket bike riding is -  quite literally - motorcycling by the seat of your pants. Although only a few inches off the ground, that's little comfort if you come off at 40 mph. The impact is just the same as falling off a regular motorcyle at the same speed.

The temptation, as you suspect, to regard pocket bikes as kids' stuff is misplaced. These are not toys. They're motorbikes that have shrunk in the wash.

The following guidelines should help ensure your pocket bike riding is a safe pasttime:

    1. Ride sensibly at all times. Public roads, pavements and car parks are out of bounds. Ride on private land, a pocket bike circuit or other properly designated area.

    2. Protective head gear, elbow and knee pads are the minimum you should wear. Protective gloves are also recommended.

    3. Pocket bikes should not be used for carrying passengers unless they are specifically designed for that purpose.

    4. Pocket bikes are not suitable for riders under 12 years of age.

    5. Do not ride your pocket bike at night or in wet weather.
