How Do You Put Felt On A Roof?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

You can fit felt on a roof by starting at the bottom of the roof and running the felt along the roof. The felt should be aligned in such a way that the lower edge of the roof extends over the fascia board and reaches the center of the gutter.

The felt should be nailed to the rafters using one-inch or 25-millimetre long clout nails. The nailing of the felt should start at one end of the roof and the nails should be put in the middle of the width. There should be a distance of approximately 250 millimetres or ten inches between the nails and the fascia board on every alternate rafter. The top of the felt should be left unsecured at this end, and excess slack can be removed without pulling it tightly.
