I believe you are asking a simple and legitimate question, What is fun about the basics of chemistry? It all depends on your sense of adventure! If, you love to learn new and different things and how they relate to one another in this world, then the basics of chemistry can be fun. A lot depends upon your attitude, but a lot also depends upon your teacher's love of chemistry and ability to show you the fun side of chemistry.

What is chemistry? Chemistry is the science of substances. Substances are all kinds of matter, their properties and the conditions, which influence the changes within matter. There are several different areas of Chemistry such as analytical chemistry like the chemistry used on CSI and in real life crimes.
There is also Organic Chemistry, which is the study of carbon compounds found in matter especially in living matter. There are many more sides to Chemistry.

People who study atoms could not do so unless they had an understanding of the basics of chemistry. Chemistry is the study of changes within different elements like hydrogen, helium, carbon, oxygen, iron, gold, sulphur and more. By the way, what makes your voice change when you suck in a little bit of helium from a helium inflated balloon?

That is chemistry in action. When you study science you learn why this happens. What is the interaction of elements, which causes this, what are the elements, which cause your voice to change. What causes the chemical reaction is it your breathe? Chemistry can explain this and a whole lot more.

In the basics of chemistry you will learn about atoms, elements, compounds, electrons, and properties of various matter like molecules. You may even learn what chemistry has to do with why vinegar and oil do not mix? Why equal amounts of sugar and salt in equal amounts of liquid, do not dissolve at the same rate. And, by the way, what is the dissolution rate of each element? Chemistry, chemical reactions, atoms, molecules, elements and matter are all involved.

So, I challenge you to let go and learn, one day you may become a forensic scientist or find the cure to one of the cancers! Good luck!
