What Kind Of Tank Do Goldfish Need?

Answer Question

2 Answers - Sort by: Date | Rating

Honestly, you need at the least a 20 gallon tank for goldfish to thrive in a tank environment.Typical glass aquariums work fine but you will need a filter for the tank. Despite popular belief, goldfish do horribly in bowls and should not be kept in them.

Any kind (just about) will do, but one gallon of water per inch of fish has always
been a good rule of thumb for me.    A filter system is needed...I like
underground ones, myself...but not a heater.  Goldfish are cold water fish
and do better in unheated tanks.
