How Was The First Mosque Of Medina Built?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

The mosque of the Holy Prophet SAW was a sacred place for worship, office and court of the Prophet. In fact it served as a community centre for all the religious, social and other activities of Muslims. Holy Prophet SAW led prayers in the mosque, conducted all business from it, dispatched letters and Messengers, received delegations and deputations, issued orders, heard cases and settled disputes. He scribes and officials also worked inside the mosque.

The Ummah or the new Islamic Community now had the first aim of preservation of peace between its members, and Holy Prophet SAW, as its executive head of the community had to see to it that this aim was realised. But the Ummah was much more than just preserving peace. In one respect it was a community of individuals, for Islam accepted the tendency towards individualism, and even encouraged it. The ultimate moral sanction in Islam, punishment in Hell, applied to the individual for his conduct as an individual. Provisioning of Justice was the cornerstone in the Islamic society. Every deserving person was to be given his due share and each member of the society was to cooperate in this sector at its best of ability.
