    Former UEFA and FIFA footballer of the year Roberto Baggio played for the Italian national side fifty six times in an international career that began in nineteen eighty eight and lasted until two thousand and four, scoring twenty seven goals in the process.  

    Born in Vicenza Italy in February nineteen sixty seven, Baggio began his career wit home town club Vicenza in nineteen eighty two where he spent three years, played thirty six league games and scored thirteen league goals.  

    In eighty five he moved to Fiorentina where he spent a further five years, played ninety four Italian Seria A games, scored thirty nine league goals and made his début for the international team.  

    In the wake of Italia ninety, Baggio was sold amid a backdrop of outrage from Fiorentina fans to Juventus, for a then world record fee of nineteen million pounds.  

    In nineteen ninety three, Baggio tasted European club sucess for the only time in his career when he helped Juve lift the UEFA cup.
