Harry Maurice Roberts was born in the year 1936 and is regarded as one of the most notorious murderers of the United Kingdom (England). He is one of the longest serving inmates of England and is till today imprisoned for the triple murders that he committed of police officers in the year 1966. He was driving with an accomplice with guns in his car when he was stopped by three police men named PC Geoffrey Fox (41 years old), Sergeant Christopher head (30 years old) and Det Con David Wombell (25 years old) in an unmarked "Q" car. In sheer frustration and absolute fear that the guns in his car would be discovered he pulled out one of the guns and shot one policeman and then shot the other while his accomplice shot the third one and they fled the scene.

There was a huge man hunt for him as he had killed police officers. Roberts hid in the Epping Forest to avoid this manhunt. As he had also served in the military during the Malayan Emergency, he used his military training and surviving techniques to avoid police who were looking for him. He avoided and hid from the police for a period of three months before he was finally captured. The police caught him when he was sleeping in a barn at Blount's Farm near Bishop's Stortford after he hid in the nearby Matham's Woods. He was sentenced to 30 years of prison and is still serving time.
