GPS stands for Global Positioning System. It is basically a Global Navigation Satellite System, developed by United States Department of Defense.

The GPS or more commonly known by GNSS, uses a constellation of 24 and 32 medium Earth Orbit Satellites which transmit precise and accurate microwave signals. This enables the GPS Users to determine their current location, time and velocity.
