Do I Need A 64bit Operating System To Make Best Use Of The AMD Dual-core Processor?

I am planning to purchase an AMD dual-core processor. Do I need a specific operating system to utilize all of that processing power? I've heard that I would need the 64bit version of either Windows XP or Vista. Is that true?

A 64 bit OS will unlock the full power of this processor, but you probably won't ever notice this unless you are doing serious scientific or engineering work.  The problem you will run into is that not all 32 bit apps work correctly under a 64 bit OS - I recommend that you save your money and buy the less expensive 32 bit version of Windows.
