The word Nazi is the abbreviation of the much feared National Socialist Political Party in Germany. Adolf Hitler was the head of this party from 1921 to 1945. This party was racist, anti-Semitic, nationalistic, imperialistic, militaristic and anti-communist in its ideology. It is also used to describe the followers of Hitler. Their ideology was named as Nazism. Today the word is used to describe intolerant, fanatic individuals who worship power and would go to any extent to get it.
The Nazis in Germany are infamous for their slaughtering of the Jews through concentration camps and gas chambers. They believed Hitler and his ideology blindfolded and assumed pride their own superiority. They resorted to extreme violence and imposed their extremist views on people. Thus it is a form of Fascism. It developed after the First World War.
