    Dominican Republic is a country which is located on the eastern part of the island of 'Hispaniola'. The island is located in the Caribbean. The country attained its independence from Haiti on the 27th of February in the year 1884. Santo Domingo is the capital city of the Dominican Republic. The population of Dominican Republic is 8,895,000 and the official language is Spanish. Politically, the Dominican Republic is being governed by the Republican government with Leonel Fernandez being the current president.

    The country of Dominican Republic is sometime also known as the 'Quisqueya'. The country has a very tropical climate. The rainy season lasts from the month of May to November. There were also threats of periodic Hurricanes from the month of June to November.
