How Did Buckingham Palace Get Its Name?

The Buckingham Palace is situated on Westminster city and is the official residence of King or Queen of Britain in London.

It is known as Buckingham Palace because it was named after the Duke of Buckingham as it was a special townhouse made for him. It was built in the year 1703 and had been continuously expanded and remodelled after its initial erection. At that time the Duke of Buckingham was John Sheffield, who was the son of Edmund Sheffield. It became the official residence of the Royal family when it was made the royal residence by Queen Victoria in the year 1837.
