Not a Butlins redcoat - Brian Conley was in fact a Pontins Bluecoat. (Pontins is very similar to Butlins, though not quite so well known.) He went there in 1977 at the age of 16, and by 1982 had begun his TV career. His first TV appearance was on a game show, "Make Me Laugh."
He has since had his own show, and still appears regularly on TV as well as appearing in other entertainments such as pantomime. There is a brief biography of Brian Conley at Brian_Conley
