    Is There Anything To Put In The Food Or Drink For Cats To Help Keep The Eyes Open .there Is Some That You Can't Touch So Need To Put Into Food. Thank You . Aline

    I have lots of cats that come to my house and have their babies ,then the eyes on them get matted up so they can't see but we can't catch then to doctor there eyes ,so i think that you all might know of medicine to put in the food or water.i ask a vet.but they tell me to bring them into the office .i can't pay for all the cat Aline

    There is nothing you can put in the food or water to help these kittens.  Upper respiratory infections and conjunctivitis are very common in stray cats.  These infections have both a viral and bacterial component.  There are anti-viral and antibiotics that we use in cats but are dose and time dependent.  One dose of medication will not help these kittens.
    Kittens are not born with their eyes open.  Kittens usually have their eyes open around 10 days.
    The humane societies and shelters common treat upper respiratory tract infections in cats.  They may come out and trap the cats in the colony for you.  The humane society or an area veterinarian may have a live trap they could loan you to trap the kittens and bring them in for treatment.

      I would call another vet, and tell them your situation, maybe they will be more understanding to your problem. I hate to mention it, but you might call the pound and have them taken so that they will get the help they need. Hope this helps, good luck.
