    The American declaration of independence was signed on the 4th of July in the year 1776; according to the declaration of independence the United Colonies were all independent from the rule of the Kingdom of Great Britain. The American Declaration of Independence was chiefly written by Thomas Jefferson, this declaration explained the main points of breaking away from the Kingdom of Great Britain. A copy of the statement was signed by a good number of delegates from on the 2nd of august and is currently kept in display at the National Archives in Washington D.C. it is said that the declaration is said to be the main founding document of the United States of America. The 4th of July is celebrated as the America Independence Day.

    No. It wasn't signed in 1776. It was signed July 4th 1771.
