Why Are White Cats Usually Deaf?

Explain completely please.

Answer Question

The deafness often seen in white cats with blue irises is a congenital problem--it is believed to be a dominant trait inherited along with the white coat color gene.  It is believed they have never experienced sound; the brain stem does not send these signals out.

I have had several white cats, and they weren't deaf. That is an untrue fact.
