The inventions of science have given a wider and international colour to the wars. In past, wars were limited to battlefields. But the latest means of communication have given them an international colour. Let the two countries fight and the whole world plunge into it. The war spreads to towns, cities and villages all at once. Every factory, every field, school and hospital is affected by war the whole nation is mobilized. During war, the social, economic and cultural life of a nation comes to a stand still.
The modern war brings wholesale ruins and destruction in its wake. It leaves behind it an army of named men, women and soldiers. The loss to human life and property is colossal. Innocent people in the town, villages are bombarded and killed. Even places of learning, hospitals and government offices are not spared. War affects every sphere of life. It creates unemployment and inflation. Science has made modern war an exerciser in destruction.
However, the scientists have developed and invented methods and defensive arms to save mankind from large-scale destruction. The gas masks, anti-air-craft guns and radars have been invented to offset the destructive effects of war. Moreover, the modern medicines and latest techniques of surgery have been invented by the scientists to save the life of the wounded people. Rapid means of communication make the people aware of the tempo of war.

We can say now a day there is a big connection between war and science. The inventors of science have made war a destructive affair. The scientist invented gunpowder and gunshots in the last century. Shots of different kinds of guns were later developed by the Western scientist. Later on, came rifles, heavy guns and machine guns. During the First World War, the deadly weapons were used. The scientist did not discard their efforts of improving the deadly weapons.

Guns were improved. Their range of attack was increased to sixty or seventy miles in our age. Chemical or poisonous gases have been invented. The use of such deadly gases cripples life all of sudden. During the World War 2 the Germans used chemical weapons. They were met with more deadly weapons. Tanks were met with anti-tanks guns. The chemical gases were faced with gas masks. The bombers were faced with anti-air-craft guns.

The most advanced countries posses’ nuclear weapons. Now cities and towns were destroyed within moments by using Atom and Hydrogen bombs. In the Second World War, the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki were destroyed. The use of nuclear weapons causes wholesome destruction. The scientists have kinds of poisonous germs which pollute the air and cause suffocation in the atmosphere. We can say the whole pattern of welfare has changed in the world. Now wars are fought in the laboratories, not in battlefields.
