What's A Conductor?

Answer Question

3 Answers - Sort by: Date | Rating

A conductor is a substance which has ability to conduct electricity. Conductors have free electrons or ions which help in the conduction of electricity. When these charges or ions are moved electric current is produced. In conductors conduction band is very large. Valence band is small but overlaps with conduction band. So, electrons can easily move from valence band to conduction band. Moreover, forbidden band is not present in conductors.
