The word dispersive is an adjective. It means diffusing or something that is spread by diffusion. A dispersive medium is defined as a medium in which the harmonic waves move at the speeds of waves which are actually functions of the wavelengths of the waves. It is also defined as the medium in which the propagation of the velocities or speeds depends upon the frequencies of the waves.
Dispersive replication is a term in genetics which is defined as the model of DNA synthesis which has been disproved. It is apparently disproved on the suggested grounds of the more or less random interspersion of parental and new segments in the daughter molecules of DNA. A postulated mode of DNA replication combines the aspects of conservative and semi-conservative DNA replications. It is known to be incorrect.
Dispersive flux is defined as the mass transfer (which pertains to either mass or unit time or unit area) that occurs because of dispersion. It is equivalent to the coefficient of dispersion multiplied by the gradient of the concentration with respect to distance.
