OK, first off why are you worried how your Mom would act...I'd be so scared of what the problem might be that her reaction would be secondary to my health problem could be.  Or, just go to the DR on your own, find out the problem, then tell her or have the DR call her and set up an appointment to speak with you both at the same time about the diagnosis.  What ever, just get to the DR!!  ASAP!!!  Please, your immediate health is at risk...and the longer you wait....it can only get worse.  Good Luck!!  Janes

Tell her you are worried because you are coughing a lot and you need to see a doctor. That doesn't signify weakness, it actually does the opposite- letting her know you are learning to take care of yourself. Obviously you want to be gentle with her. If you have a school nurse, you could start by going there first. It sounds like you need attention soon. Best of luck.

And of course our moms are gonna freak thats what there supposed to do,but don't not tell because it will hurt feelings trust me I failed to tell my mom my health problem and I hurt her worse than not saying anything because the fear of her treating me different

Hi j.l., I am a mom, so i know your concern. This happened to my son when he was in high school. Turns out it was a sinus infection, that was draining down the back of his throat, and when he coughed, same thing. I was so freaked to begin with, but there are a lot of not too serious things it could be. Sit mom down and tell her you have a health problem, and need her input. Be prepared to calm her down with, mom, it isn't necessarily a real bad thing, i just need to see the dr. So I can get fixed up. Tell her about my son's sinus infection. Wasn't from the stomach or lungs. Then go to the dr. So he can give you antibiotics or whatever you need to get rid of it. Blessings to you and mom!

We're moms, we react. Let your mom do what she has to, your mom needs to know what is going on, she can't help you if you don't tell her. Know matter how old you get you will always be her baby, one day you will be out on your own and wish you had someone to baby you when you are sick.  (I do) Take it in, it's great to be loved by moms and it doesn't mean your weak. Let her take you to the Dr. So you can get better faster. :o)

If you're coughing up blood at school I think you should just tell your mom so she can help you out.

I too am a mom, but just to let you know I was a 13 year old at one time struggling between a child and a young woman just as you are. Yes, mom is going to freak. Yes, at the situation but later that you didn't come to her right away. (that she will get over) Honey, no matter what the problem talk to her she was also your age before and has an idea of your feelings. My question to you is so you don't feel good you need to go to the doctor whats the big deal? Or do you know something about yourself that may be causing this problem and that is the reason you don't want to tell her, because then she will know? Give her some credit she is going to love and take care of you no matter what it is. There is nothing to big or bad that a loving family can't work through. Take it from experience please don't wait another minute. Now go tell your mom & get to the Doctors I will be keeping you in my prayers. Good Luck
