At What Ground Was The First Game Of This Year's World Cup In The West Indies Played?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

The ICC World Cup 2007 is being hosted by the West Indies. The quadrennial event sees a different host every four years, with member countries having to make bids to host it. The previous edition was held in South Africa.

The matches for this World Cup have been evenly spaced out for the teams, so all of them get enough time to prepare for the next match. The format of the tournament has remained the same as the previous edition, with the initial league stage followed by the Super 8 stage. The Super 8 phase would be followed by the Semifinals, and then the grand finale on 28 April, 2007.

The first match of World Cup 2007 was held between Pakistan and the West Indies on Tuesday, March 13, 2007. The match was held at Sabina Park in Kingston, Jamaica. West indies exploited the home advantage and some wayward Pakistani batting to notch a 54-run victory. Batting first, the West Indies made a decent 241 in their allotted 50 overs, and then restricted Pakistan to 187 all out.
