First drain the oil from oil pan, then remove the oil pan. The oil pump has the oil pick up attached to it and comes off with the oil pump.There are two 9/16 headed bolts that hold the oil pump on remove them and oil pump will come off. Once off remove the oil pickup because you'll need to put it on new oil pump before installing it. Once oil pump is back in position on eng the oil pump bolts get torqued to 45ft lbs. When installing oil pan make sure all of old gasket is removed from block and pan to insure a good seal. After all back together unhook coil wire so you can prime new oil pump while turning it over with ignition without it starting. You should only have to crank it over for about 30 to 45 seconds.
