Why Is The Site Not Allowing You To Edit Your Answers?
Why do we have this choice if it is not working?

I wonder that same thing, many times when in a hurry my proof reading skills don't kick in until after the "answer question" button is pushed. Used to be we could correct erroneous answers. There is a possibility that the moderators of the site have decided to take the edit option away because there is a member of this site who has used the edit function with comments to cause serious trouble by completely changing her comments after being called for making derogatory remarks about a respected member.
