In The Warehousing Industry What Is SAP And Where Or How Do You Get Sap Training Or Experience?

I Hear SAP is a payroll Program but I've also seen it in warehousing operations. I'm a forklift operator and I'm interested in computer programs used for inventory control, ect. Oracle was another program used in the past and may or may not still be used.

SAP is not just a normal program but an entire suite of business modules that together form the SAP ERP systems known as R/3 or mySAP.

It is the best business software suite for big companies in the world and is highly customizable. You can get modules for pretty much everything. SAP has modules such as Human Resources, Finance, Controlling, Warehouse management and so forth - you name it.

Normally, your company has different use cases. You say you work in a warehouse so your company will most likely use some sort of warehouse management system. And for your payroll you may need something for human resources. And since business is all about money, your leadership may need something for managing costs and finances.
Instead of buying individual programs for each use, SAP offers them all and integrates them. So data from the warehouse flows directly to the finance system and can be used there... and vice versa.

You can also start small (just with a warehousing component) and later buy extra modules for it as you need it.

The special strength (but also weakness) of SAP is its flexibility: no business is like another. Your warehouse is different from the warehouse of your competitor. Consequently, SAP allows for you to customize processes and everything to match your specific needs. But this flexibility makes it fairly complex. It is not easy to learn.

But there are SAP partners or the SAP university where you can learn how to use SAP for warehouses.

In addition, there is SAP press which produces books specifically made for SAP. You can, for instance, buy a book that only deals with SAP warehouse management from the point of view of a user. (There are also books on customization, administration...)

But make no mistake: SAP is very complex and difficult to learn. But it is also the most powerful and most flexible and most integrated business software suite on the planet with no real competitor as of yet. If your company is big, you won't go wrong with SAP.

Remark: no, I do not work for SAP :-) But I know the software as I am living close to their headquarters.

Btw. Oracle is a database system and no warehouse management system.
