    Fasting is the process in which people abstain from all food and drink. Fasting is common among Christians, Muslims, Buddhists, Jews, Jainism followers and Hindus.
    Since your question is placed in category Islam, I'll explain Fasting among Muslims:
    Muslims fast on many occasions in year like Muslims fast on 9th and 10th or 1oth and 11th Muharram in celebration of Mosses gaining victory over Pharaoh.
    But in the Holy month of Ramadan, Muslims fast for whole month from Dawn till Sunset. The Holy Month of Ramadan lasts 29 or 30 days depending on moon sighting. You might also like to visit following Blurtit questions:
