How Many Managers Of England Have Their Been?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Up to and including current England manager Steve McClaren, there have been fourteen managers of England in total.

In keeping with the current football trend of constantly changing manager, the national side has had well over half of its managers since Bobby Robson led the side to the semi finals of the nineteen ninety world cup final held in Italy.

Peter Taylor holds the honour of being the man with the shortest spell as England boss, with Taylor only having charge of the full national side for one game in the year two thousand, prior to the arrival of Sven Goran Eriksson, a game they also lost!

Howard Wilkinson is the only man to date to have taken charge of the national side on two different occasions.  Wilkinson took temporary charge in the wake of Hoddle's sack for one game and then again for a solitary match when Kevin Keegan quit.
