Is It Possible To File For Divorce Yourself Or Do You Need A Lawyer?

Do-It-Yourself divorces are possible and they can often be cheaper too! However, usually it is only really possible to do this if both you and your spouse agree on things financially. Do you know what you are both entitled to? Are you in agreement with who is getting what? If so, then you can fill out the necessary forms, both sign them and it can be done in no time at all. However, if not I'm afraid you will need a lawyer!
You can get the necessary forms from your local court and once you have filled them in and sent them off you will then receive an appointment which you both have to attend. This appointment is with someone from the court who will want to go over everything with you and check that you are both in agreement and that you haven't been forced into anything. That does cost a little money but it is a lot less than hiring a lawyer!
