Can a stray apartment cat adapt to a new environment?(i.e., opened back yard)

Cats are very adaptable. It depends on the circumstances of which the cat has lived. They have great hunting instincts, and are capable of catching, birds, mice, flies, even worms. (Maybe my cats are weird). If this is a very old cat, it might not be willing to adapt. It might just want the lap of luxury, and by the time it turns old, it deserves the pampering. If this is a younger cat, it will adapt better. But I don't think that the kitty should be made to live outside all the time, or they will go feral. Pray, where is the fun of a cat, if it leaves you? Hope this helps.
