Can Anyone Explain Why John McCain Is A Better Choice Because "He Has Been Tested"ť ?

We're told that he has passed the “test” to be the Commander-In-Chief. Are they referring to his suffering as a POW in Vietnam? So, 5 years in an isolation prison camp makes one more qualified about the war, or international affairs? What about the other fellow prisoners?

He lead and was a commander of forces while in the Military. While he was held captive during the Vietnam War he was offered freedom by his captors, after 5 years of imprisonment, at the Hanoi Hilton. McCain asked what about the release of the other prisoners or the American Military men also being held captive. McCain was told they were not being given the freedom he was, as such McCain choose to stay with these other American's rather than get his own personal release. He stayed another 7 years! What would you have done?

Yes, his ordeal as a POW in Vietnam is well known. I also watched him tonight telling how he was sitting in the cockpit ready to take off to face the enemy during the Cuban Crisis when the world was at the brink of a nuclear war. He ended up with saying, “I’ve been tested.” His courage and his military service to the country have never been questioned and very much admired by all sides. You cannot find a better military man to fight for our country. Other people point to his family history of 3 generations serving in the military, and say that he has earned the right to be elected.

But is that what the “test” is about? Will that experience alone make a person more suited to lead the most powerful country in the world? (Will Rambo be just as qualified?) Or, does the Presidency require other qualities?

(BTW, I always thought he was kept in the "Hanoi Hilton" for 5 years. I didn't know it was actually 12. Are you sure?)

Yeah, He was offered freedom but chose to stay with his comrades. There are videos of him as a prisoner, so beaten and tortured he could barley talk, in fact it was more like a whimpering cry with barley audible works. It is very breath taking to watch a very emotional experience. He was also on the aircraft carrier during Vietnam that caught fire. He was in the cockpit getting ready for a mission and the fuel lines caught fire, The Jet he was in did to fully armed. There is video of him climbing out with fire raging all around. The man has been through it all under crisis! He has also been a senator for the State of Arizona for at least 20 maybe 30 years now. I have met him before at function here in Phoenix. His big Boo Boo the only one I really know of is the Charles Keating and Savings & Loan failure during the late 1980's. The thing about the man then even was he returned all the money that was given to him by Keating! None of the others implicated did that! He is really an upright individual a man that in a crisis you know will stay with you and fight with you till the end.

I don't doubt what you've said. I just wonder if there is a different set of "test" for someone aspiring to lead the nation besides military courage and battlefield experience.
