If you are refering to dogs then try to give them milk bones and rawhide bones these help. You can get a soft head tooth brush and brush the dogs teeth. If your talking about people then you can use mouth wash, brush teeth and tounge, and use breath mints, if it stays bad some times the dentist can do a prodcue in the office to help

If you go to a good pet store (Petsmart, Petco, etc.), you can buy a bottle of stuff that you add to your dog's water. It helps prevent plaque and improves their breath. You shake it and add a capful or two to your dog's drinking water. I've been using it for about 4 months, and I've noticed a  good deal of improvement in their teeth and breath, and the dogs don't seem to notice it at all. There are several different brands. Look for it where they sell toothbrushes and general oral care products. Good luck.
